Puppies found near death at Henry County landfill ready to be adopted

Puppies have been going through rehab, therapy for months

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Two puppies believed to have been dumped at the Henry County landfill and left for dead are ready to be adopted.

As we've reported, the two dogs were extremely emaciated when they were found in July and have been undergoing treatment, including physical therapy, ever since.

Adopting them though won't be simple.

Because of the dogs' conditions, the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA has a list of requirements.

The requirements include putting the dogs through obedience training and each dog going to a separate home.

"We are thrilled. It is amazing to see these babies the way they are now, and ready and looking for homes, compared to what they (looked like when they) came in," said SPCA Donor Relations Coordinator Catherine Gupton.

Both dogs are currently staying in foster homes.
