Montgomery County Sheriff's Office hosting fundraiser for Eric Burdette

The sheriff's office is hosting a car wash and bake sale Saturday.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – The New River Valley community continues to rally around a local high school senior with cancer.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has stepped up to raise money for Radford High School senior Eric Burdette.

Burdette is battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma. His cancer was found after he was hurt during a football game.

This Saturday, the sheriff's office along with the Christiansburg Rescue Squad and other community organizations  is hosting a car wash and hot dog and bake sale to help Eric's family with medical expenses.

"At times like this, the financial burdens seem to just add to the stress, so whatever we raise, we know will be a help," said Hank Partin, Montgomery County Sheriff.

Eric's mom is a deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

The fundraiser will take place at the Auto Zone on Roanoke Street in Christiansburg this Saturday. It runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
