Storm water project underway in Danville, could cause some headaches for drivers
Parts of Patton Street will be closed over the next six months
DANVILLE, Va. – A storm water project that could cause some headaches for drivers in Danville is underway.
For at least the next six months, portions of Patton Street will be closed to install a new storm drain in front of city hall.
The drain is needed in order to divert storm water drainage away from an old culvert under some buildings across the street.
Project engineer Bryce Simmons said the culvert is causing some flooding in the buildings, but the city doesn't have access to the culvert to fix the problem.
"Because those (buildings) are private property, public works does not have the opportunity to go into that storm water drainage system and make repairs," Simmons explained.
The project will be completed in five phases.
