Reports of rape at Virginia Tech doubled in the last year, according to new report

The change occurred between 2015 and 2016.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – A new campus crime report shows an increase in reported sexual assaults at Virginia Tech.

According to the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990, which requires the school to share crime data with the public, the total number of reported rapes on or around the Blacksburg campus doubled from six in 2015 to 12 last year.

The report did state that four of the eleven rapes were reported with limited information.

WSLS reached out to Virginia Tech for a comment but has not heard back.
