Franklin Road off-ramp to be closed for 60 days

The closure will allow the construction company to construct bridge foundations.

ROANOKE, Va. – Bridge construction on Franklin Road is causing an off-ramp to be closed for about two months.

Allegheny Construction will close the Route 220 North off-ramp to Franklin Road this coming Monday. The closure is expected to last 60 days and will allow the company to construct new bridge foundations.

10 News spoke with the City of Roanoke's engineer, who said the bridge reconstruction project is on schedule. He expects it to be fully functional by January 2019.

There will be detour signs along Elm Avenue for travelers trying to get downtown. The Route 220 South ramp from old southwest onto 220 will remain open.
