A New York hospital rarely sees two sets of twins delivered in a day. On Wednesday, NYU Winthrop in Mineola had four.
The Long Island families' babies started arriving at 8:44 a.m. when Brenda Alvarenga gave birth to Ava and Elena, Newsday reported.
Then came twins Sarah and Elise, welcomed by parents Shannon and Anthony Rogone at 10 a.m., Newsday reported. An hour later, Alex and McKenzi joined parents Darlene and Joe Sica.
Twins Luke and Benjamin were born last at 2:26 p.m. to Catherine and Joseph Monez, Newsday reported.
Two sets of twins born at the hospital is rare, the NYU Winthrop's chief of maternal fetal medicine told Newsday. Four in one day? That was unheard of, until this week, Dr. Martin Chavez said.
