The Bandroom says goodbye to customers after 40 years

The business provided music lessons to many

ROANOKE, Va.- – After more than 40 years of business, a popular music store is leaving the community on a good note.

Naomi Bolling, who owns The Bandroom on Brambleton Avenue, says she's worked in music for 62 years.

She's opened the store in 1979 initially as a place for instructors to give music lessons.

Bolling battled pneumonia in the spring and felt it was God's way of telling her to retire.

"Some gentleman came in this morning and said, 'I want to thank you for helping me with my children all these years.' He didn't come in to buy anything, but he came in to tell me goodbye. And that means so much to me. I've gotten cards, letters, all kinds of cute little gifts just from people who wanted to tell me goodbye," Bolling said.

Bolling is having a retirement sale with everything in the store more than half off.

Saturday is the official last day.

Any instruments left, Bolling wants to donate to students in Texas who lost everything due to Hurricane Harvey.
