Lynchburg police investigate after man, 21, shot

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg police are investigating after a 21-year-old man was shot Friday.

Police responded at 4:29 p.m. Friday to the 800-1200 blocks of Wise Street and Floyd Street after receiving multiple reports of shots fired.

Police said some reported seeing a small group scattering from the area.

A call also came in reporting that someone had been shot in the area, police said.

Officers went to the 800 block of Wise Street and came in contact with the man, who had received what appeared to be a single gunshot wound. Police said he was receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a further canvass of the area revealed that the shooting actually took place in the 1000 block of Floyd Street.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division. Police said anyone with information is asked to call Detective R. Miller at 434-455-6160 or Crime Stoppers at 888-798-5900.
