Bedford County Sheriff's Office does unannounced drug sweep at three high schools

Sheriff's Office says sweep happens every year

BEDFORD, Va. –      Students at all three high schools in Bedford County started their day with an unannounced search for drugs. School resource officers at Liberty, Jefferson Forest and Staunton River high schools called for a low-level lockdown after the first bell Thursday morning. Deputies say the found a pellet gun in a student's car and a small amount of marijuana in a book bag. According to the Bedford County Sheriff's Office, school administrators didn't know about the planned sweep, which happens every year.
