ROANOKE, Va. – Delegate Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke City) and Roanoke City Mayor Sherman P. Lea Sr. will join Governor-elect Ralph Northam's transition team.
The transition team offers guidance on who should be in the next executive administration. They help the governor-elect prepare for the job, and also act as special counsel.

The team will meet regularly until the inauguration.
Rasoul issued this statement Thursday morning:
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help build the foundation for the next administration in Virginia. As part of the transition team, I will help shape the way Virginia will be governed over the next four years to ensure our Commonwealth continues to grow in a positive direction."
