'Spelling bee bandit' pleads guilty to bank robberies

Man handed several tellers note with misspelling

A man known to authorities as the "spelling bee bandit" has pleaded guilty to several bank robberies in the Boston area, according to The New York Times.

Police gave Jason Englen, 34, the nickname after he handed several bank tellers a note with "robbery" spelled with only one "b."

Englen was arrested in December and faces up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing scheduled for Feb. 28.
