CARROLL COUNTY, Va. – State police say a 23-year-old man was killed and two others were hurt in a wreck in Carroll County on Monday.
It happened around 8:45 p.m. on Route 687, less than a mile west of Route 679.

According to state police, a 1992 Nissan D21 was traveling west on Route 687. As the pickup truck came into a curve, the driver suddenly braked. The truck ran off the left side of the highway, went down an embankment, hit several trees and flipped.
The driver, a 26-year-old male from Ararat, Virginia, had to go to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
A 28-year-old female passenger had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
A second passenger, Seth P. Steed, 23, of Lexington, North Carolina, died at the scene. He was partially ejected from the vehicle.
None of them were wearing a seat belt, according to state police.
Charges are pending.
