DCC honor society offering to wrap Christmas presents to raise money for charity

Money raised will go to local 'Stockings for Seniors' program

DANVILLE, Va. – Students in Southside are raising money to help senior citizens this holiday season.

Members of Danville Community College's honor society will wrap your Christmas gifts through Dec. 8.

The cost is $5 for one to five gifts and $10 for six or more gifts.

The money will be used to purchase stocking stuffers for 53 senior citizens in need at the Brookdale senior living facility in Danville.

"(Our co-vice president) brought to our attention that Brookdale senior home needed some people to get some donations," honor society member Jesse Saunders said.

"Our team, ABG, Alpha Beta Gamma, we just decided 'Hey, that's a great idea.' In order to do that, we just decided what we needed to do as far as activities are concerned. Gift wrapping came up and we went straight for it," Saunders said.

Wrapping will take place in room 105 of Taylor Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
