Fatal crash in Alleghany County Thursday night

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. – A fatal, single-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 64 in Alleghany County Thursday night.

Driver Timothy Chad Vallandingham, 26, was traveling east on Interstate 64 when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, over-corrected, then ran off the left side of the roadway into the median, according to Virginia State Police. Police say the vehicle overturned several times and eventually ejected the driver.

Vallandingham, a Caldwell, West Virginia resident, was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene, according to a police report.

He was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano.
