Through Dec. 21, you'll get $1 off your fines in Pittsylvania County, up to $10, for every nonperishable food item you bring in.

"Crayons and pencils, glue sticks are a big thing. Clorox wipes, scissors, colored pencils, construction paper, and dry-erase markers," Danville Public Library  Youth Services Director Chrislyn Gardner said, reading the library's list of accepted school supplies.

"This (list) is supplies that the teachers have asked for that the students need."

The food will be given to God's Storehouse in Danville and the school supplies will be given to Danville elementary schools.
