Two indicted for death of Nelson County woman during alleged drug sale

NELSON COUNTY, Va. – A grand jury indicted two people in connection with the May 2016 death of a Nelson County woman.

Timothy Tyson Ramsey and Miranda Sue Harris are indicted on one count of accidentally killing 29-year-old Samantha Rena Tyree while in the commission of a felony, which was giving or distributing methamphetamine to Tyree. Ramsey and Harris are also each charged with one count of feloniously concealing a dead body and distribution of methamphetamine.

The grand jury returned true bills on Nov. 27, while the announcement about the indictments was made Wednesday.

If convicted of these three charges, the two face a minimum of 11 years to a maximum of 85 years in prison.

This case is being prosecuted by Daniel L. Rutherford, commonwealth’s attorney for Nelson County, and Erik Laub, assistant commonwealth’s attorney for Nelson County. It was investigated by the Nelson County Sheriff's Office.
