FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – A Rocky Mount man is now officially charged after an abduction and homicide.

John Robert Eames, 55, was arrested on Wednesday following his release from the hospital. He is currently charged with shooting a gun into an occupied home, possession of a gun by a convicted felon, and reckless handling of a gun.

His charges stem from a November 22 incident. Deputies say that Eames left his car and then pulled a gun on a stopped car. He then got into the car and left.

Officers then responded to Arrington Park Circle in Glade Hill after receiving a call about a man threatening to kill a female.

Deputies say Eames shot into a couple of homes before then running away and shooting himself in the head.

The victim of the abduction was not hurt.

When deputies investigated further, they responded to Dillard Lane in Rocky Mount for a well-being check on Dillard Nolen, 80, who they found dead from a gunshot wound.

Eames is being held without bond at the Western Virginia Regional Jail. Additional charges may be pending.

The investigation is ongoing.
