DANVILLE, Va. – A warming shelter is opening in Danville as many people are without power during this snowfall.

The shelter, located at North Main Baptist Church on North Main St., opened at 5 a.m. Saturday.

Those who lost power or have been otherwise displaced are welcome.

The shelter is not providing meals or showers. Those who come should only bring essential items, such as medical supplies, baby care items, blankets, non-perishable food, and bottled water.

Only service animals will be allowed inside.

Anyone wanting to go to the shelter should use the north side parking lot entrance.

The shelter will operate as long as needed.
