Woman charged with second degree murder for stabbing 27-year-old man

The murder happened Friday night in Rocky Mount


ROCKY MOUNT – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murder of Cordarious Immanuel Wright, 27, of Rocky Mount. Police say Wright was stabbed by Amanda Marie Harper, 29, of Penhook at a home in the 200 block of Samuel Lane in Rocky Mount.

The stabbing happened around 10 p.m. Friday night.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Department family members called 9-1-1 after they say Harper stabbed him, and left the scene on foot. Witnesses told deputies that Harper was the suspect. Deputies arrived within minutes of the call and found Harper walking on Samuel Lane. Deputies and EMS units responded to the home and found Wright, inside the residence with a stab wound to the chest.

Wright died at the scene.

Based on evidence at the scene and witness statements, Harper was arrested and charged with second degree murder, a statement from the Sheriff’s Office said. Harper is being held in the Franklin County jail without bond. Sheriff’s deputies say the investigation is ongoing and more details will be released later.
