Two people safe after escaping house fire in Roanoke

Damages expected to be approximately $25,000

ROANOKE, Va. – Two people are safe, but they face thousands of dollars in damages after a fire at their home in Roanoke.

Roanoke City Fire-EMS said crews responded to an electrical fire in the 2700 block of Brooklynn Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. 

Two adults were in the house when the fire started, but escaped without injuries. 

They had working smoke alarms. 

Roanoke Fire-EMS said damages are estimated at approximately $25,000.

The Red Cross is assisting the people who lived in the home.
