Police standoff ends peacefully in Northeast Roanoke

Man was believed to have a gun



A standoff in Northeast Roanoke ended peacefully on Monday night.

Police entered the home to get him out of it.

The man is now in police custody and being taken to the hospital.

Police say that announcing any charges or releasing his name would happen at a later time.


Police are working to end a standoff situation in Northeast Roanoke.

For more than two and a half hours, they have been working to get a man to leave a home on North Avenue.

At one point, Scott Leamon, with Roanoke police, said the man came out of the house with what appeared to be a gun and then went back inside.

Police have no reason to believe that anyone else is inside the home.

Negotiators are working to get the man out of the home.

Police say no one is hurt and officers have not fired any shots.
