Wreaths Across America honors veterans

The wreaths are headed to Arlington National Cemetery

WASHINGTON (NECN) – A caravan of tractor trailers carrying Christmas wreaths is on its way to Arlington National Cemetery.

It's all part of the annual Wreaths Across America convoy. Every December, trucks full of Maine-made wreaths travel to Washington, D.C. to honor our nation's heroes. Volunteers will place the wreaths at soldiers' graves.

"They are the heroes. They're the protectors they are the freedom fighters. We need to be the freedom caretakers," said Wreaths Across America Executive Director Karen Worcester.

The convoy will make several state-by-state stops to honor local veterans, before laying the wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery Saturday.
