Woman, dog rescued from house fire

Firefighters responded Sunday morning in Roanoke County

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – There was a house fire early Sunday morning Roanoke County.

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to the 8500 block of Summer View Drive in the Hollins area.

The first crews that arrived found smoke coming from the rear of the house. The fire was eventually brought under control within 30 minutes.

There was one elderly woman and a dog in the home at the time of the fire. They will be staying with family in the area. They were both rescued without any injuries. 

The fire was mostly confined to the washer and dryer area, however, there is smoke and water damage throughout the home. The fire marshal's office estimates damages to be approximately $5,000.
