Martinsville man killed in Henry County crash

Police: victim identified as 81-year-old Sammie Warren Mills

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A Martinsville man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Henry County.

Virginia State Police said the accident happened on Sunday just before 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Route 58 and Route 687.

Police said a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis failed to yield the right-of-way while turning onto Route 58 from Route 687, and was struck by a 1999 Plymouth Neon traveling west on Route 58.

The Mercury was driven by 81-year-old Sammie Warren Mills. Mills was wearing his seatbelt, and was transported to a Martinsville Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
