Roanoke first responders recognized for help they gave during hurricanes, Charlottesville unrest

First responders were recognized during a City Council meeting

ROANOKE, Va. – During its meeting, the Roanoke City Council recognized local first responders for the help they provided during recent natural disasters and the unrest in Charlottesville.

One by one, members of Roanoke Fire EMS and the Roanoke Police Department were called up and recognized for their service.

Some of the responders assisted local departments during the violence in Charlottesville. Others spent time helping Florida and Texas recover from devastating hurricanes. 

After the first responders were recognized, each of the council members thanked them for their service.
