Five charged with theft of $9,000 in tools from Bedford Middle School construction site

Authorities say they've recovered about 25 percent of the stolen tools

BEDFORD, Va. ā€“ The Bedford County Sheriff's Office has five people in custody in connection with the theft of about $9,000 worth of tools stolen earlier this week.

The Sheriffā€™s Office received a report Monday about the theft ofĀ aĀ large number of toolsĀ from the new Bedford Middle School job site.

The contractor advised deputies that several toolboxes had been broken into sometime over the weekend.

As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested the following five peopleĀ and charged each of them with breaking and entering and grand larceny:Ā 

  • Kevin L. Thibodeau, 20, of Monroe, Virginia
  • Cheyanne C. Tom, 20, Bedford, Virginia
  • Charles A. Murphy Jr., 20, Bedford, Virginia
  • Jacob N. Desmond, 20, Madison Heights, Virginia
  • Thomas S. Jerina, 22, Madison Heights, Virginia

Investigators say they have recovered aboutĀ 25 percent of the stolen tools.
