Man arrested, charged in connection with break-in, stolen opioids at Madison Heights pharmacy

McClain turned himself in to authorities Friday morning

MADISON HEIGHTS, Va. – The man whom police were searching for in connection with a pharmacy break-in turned himself in on Friday morning.

Jeremiah Scott McClain, 41, of Madison Heights, has been charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny for taking nearly $3,000 worth of opioid medication.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office said the investigation was greatly aided by tips from the community.

McClain was taken to the Amherst Adult Detention Center, where he was being held on a $2,500 secured bond.


Amherst County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an alarm call at Hometown Pharmacy at Amelon Square at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, they determined that a man had entered the pharmacy and taken a large number of opioid medications.
