5 people, 2 dogs displaced after fire in Lynchburg

The cause is under investigation


LYNCHBURG, Va. – Five people and their two dogs are displaced after a fire started in a Lynchburg home Tuesday morning. 

Bob Mays, battalion chief, said the call came in at 5:30 a.m. for a fire at a single-family home on the 1000 block of Federal St. 

The fire started in the basement. Mays said the house is repairable. 

The Red Cross is helping the family. 

Officials are investigating what may have caused the fire.
