Forest apartment building floods after sprinkler pipes break

FOREST, Va. – Emergency crews responded to an apartment building Tuesday afternoon after multiple sprinkler pipes burst, according to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department.

Crews responded to Ivy Lake Drive for a reported audible fire alarm with water flow from the sprinklers.

When they arrived, they learned that four sprinkler pipes ruptured in an upstairs unit, flooding all units on the left side of the building on all three floors, according to a tweet from the department.

Crews say that the utilities are controlled, the building inspector has been notified and the Red Cross is assisting the residents of the flooded units.
