Pittsylvania County man, 28, killed in single-vehicle wreck


PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – State police are investigating a wreck that killed a 28-year-old man in Pittsylvania County. 

It happened Monday around 8:20 a.m. on Spring Garden Road near the Dodson Road intersection. 

State police say a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north on Spring Garden Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, then crossed the roadway and hit a brick column.  

The driver of the Volkswagen was identified as Raquonne Dupree Younger, 28, Java, Virginia.  According to state police, he was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

State police are investigating what could have caused Younger to drive off the road.
