Radford Travel Center praying teen fully recovers

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – Authorities arrested a 36-year-old Radford man in connection with a road rage stabbing on New Year's Day.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office credits tips from the public for leading them to Terence Allen Sayles.

Sayles was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with aggravated malicious wounding.

The 17-year-old victim is in stable condition and expected to survive, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Sayles is being held in Montgomery County Jail without bail.

Jason Greene says he and his workers at the Radford Travel Center were surprised to hear a 17-year-old was severely injured not far from where customers enter the store.

"Nothing like this has ever happened. Especially road rage and we didn't know about it. We certainly could have offered assistance had we known about it.

And Greene and others didn't see or hear anything about the stabbing until the incident was all over.

"We had customers call. Actually we had our friends down at Carilion Hospital call when he was taken there to see if we were all OK" Greene said.

According to Kars 4 Kids.org, Virginia has a driving score of a C- but watch out when trying to make a fast-approaching exit.

The Radford Travel Center is right off I-81 and Greene says road rage is not something he sees a lot.
