Reward offered for information after puppies found abandoned at Pittsylvania County dumpster

Danville area Humane Society caring for puppies, offering $500 reward

DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Area Humane Society is offering a $500 reward for information regarding why six puppies were apparently abandoned at a dumpster.

The 5-week-old black Lab puppies were brought into the shelter Tuesday night.

As of Wednesday, they appeared to be in good health, although DAHS executive director Paulette Dean said they were a little chubby.

"They have been vaccinated. We have de-wormed them and we're just carefully monitoring their food. They are eating, thank goodness," Dean said.

"Why leave puppies, 5-week-old puppies, at the dumpster when the weather's so cold. They would not have survived. They did not have a chance."
