Little Caesars, other organizations team up to give out free meals

Many people in northwest Roanoke enjoyed free pizza Monday

ROANOKE, Va. – People in northwest Roanoke got the chance to grab some free food Monday.

The Little Caesars Love Kitchen food truck came to town to help people less fortunate. Multiple organizations put on the event to hand out pizza, apples and drinks today at the Goodwill on Melrose Avenue.

"It's just a great feeling to be able to give away food and particularly hot pizza on a cold day," said Pamela Irvine, president and CEO of Feeding America Southwest Virginia.

FASWVA helped organize the event and Roanoke police manned the table.

"Bringing folks out on a cold day when school's closed and give them an opportunity to get a piece of hot pizza, talk to some new folks and make some new friends, it's a great effort," Roanoke police Chief Tim Jones said.

The same Little Caesars truck will offer food Tuesday in Danville. It will be at God’s Storehouse from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
