Judge dismisses charges against former Montgomery County teacher

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – A judge in Christiansburg has dropped public intoxication charges against a former teacher at Eastern Montgomery Elementary School. 

In October, school officials called the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office because they believed Chelsea Carter was drunk at school. 

Carter went on trial Monday, but the judge dismissed the charges when the arresting officer was unable to attend the trial due to illness. 

Montgomery County Schools confirms that Carter is no longer employed by the school system.
