MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Martinsville police arrested a man they say ran away from his pickup truck after causing a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Brian Martin was driving a Chevrolet pickup east on Commonwealth Boulevard about 3:20 p.m. when he hit the rear of a Dodge sedan stopped at a traffic light near VC Drive.

The force of the impact caused the Dodge to crash into a Chevrolet sedan in front of it.

Upon the arrival of rescue units, authorities say Martin got out of his truck and ran away.

Rescue squad members and others helped direct police officers to the area where Martin had run, and he was quickly located and captured.

The 51-year-old Martinsville man was charged with felony hit-and-run, felony DUI third offense, driving while revoked (DUI related) and reckless driving.

Two people were injured in the accident. They were transported to SOVAH Health of Martinsville.

Martin is in jail with no bail set for his release.
