Snowstorm knocks out power to more than 62,000 customers

Pulaski and Giles counties seeing the most outages

ROANOKE, Va. – The weekend snowstorm has caused thousands of Appalachian Power customers to lose power.

AEP is reporting outages all across Southwest Virginia.

As of 8:00 p.m. Sunday, these are the number of customers affected: 

  • Bedford County: 5
  • Bland County: 3,599
  • Carroll County: 1,516
  • Franklin County: 4,611
  • Floyd County: 3,573
  • Giles County: 6,851
  • Grayson County: 191
  • Henry County: 4,935
  • Montgomery County: 11,693
  • Patrick County: 2,530
  • Pittsylvania County: 66
  • Pulaski County: 12,476
  • Radford: 89
  • Roanoke City: 0
  • Roanoke County: 125
  • Wythe County: 5,947

For all of its customers, including those in West Virginia, Appalachian Power is reporting 63, 557 customers without power, as of 8:00 p.m.
