Man wanted by Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office now in custody

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – John Skinner III is now in custody at the Pittsylvania County Jail.

Authorities say he will be booked Monday evening before going before a magistrate

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say should be considered armed and dangerous. 

John Calvin Skinner III is wanted after an incident that happened Thursday. Deputies responded to the Kentuck area around 4 p.m. that day for a report of a disturbance. The investigation revealed that Skinner had fled the scene before deputies arrived. 

Through the investigative process, probable cause was developed that resulted in felony warrants related to gun violations and other criminal charges. 

Skinner is believed to have multiple guns. 

He is charged with attempted malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied dwelling, possession of a firearm while being a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

During the overnight hours, the sheriff's office found and seized Skinner's vehicle.

Skinner's previous charges in Pittsylvania County and Danville are mostly minor, with a DWI being the most serious.
