Christiansburg Shred-A-Thon collects 40,000 pounds of documents

Missed Monday's event? Another one is scheduled for April 30 in Roanoke

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The popular 10 News and Commonwealth Document Management, Inc. Shred-A-Thon is back.

On Monday, we collected 40,000 pounds of paper to be shredded and destroyed at the Schewels Furniture store at 1055 Peppers Ferry Road in Christiansburg.

Commonwealth Document Management, Inc. will now take the paper to its facility in Danville, where the paper is baled into 1,500 lb. bales. It's all recycled and goes back to the paper mill, where they use it to make tissue paper.

If you missed Monday's event, there is another one scheduled for April 30 at the Schewels in Roanoke, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
