Danville police make arrest in weekend shooting

More arrests are expected

Danville police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a shooting that happened over the weekend.

Danville resident Eric Tashawn Coleman Jr. is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Coleman was shot in the leg.

Police say the shooting happened around midnight Sunday in the 200 block of Withers Road.

Anthony Shaerin and his wife, Kristen, were driving home on Withers Road when they got caught up in the shooting.

"A white SUV cut us off, so obviously we stopped. They were blocking both lanes of traffic. Then, a bunch of people started running around, probably 25 or 30 people or so, and then gunshots just started going crazy," Shearin said.

"My husband told me to get down into the floorboard and that's what I did. He had his arm over my head as he's trying to reverse," Kristen Shearin said.

She and her husband bought a house in the area about a year ago, but now they are considering moving.

More arrests are expected.
