Danville man arrested in connection with city's latest homicide
Marshall Silver Jr. facing multiple charges
DANVILLE, Va. – A Danville man is behind bars in connection with the city's latest homicide.
According to police, Marshall Silver Jr., 24, was arrested on Thursday without incident.
He is charged with firing a gun in an occupied building and endangering the life of persons.
More charges are pending.
On July 5, 55-year-old Danville resident Allan Wright was found dead behind an apartment complex in the 200 block of Clement Avenue.
He died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the medical examiner's office in Roanoke.
According to a news release Friday, when Silver Jr. was arrested Thursday he was also served with an unrelated arrest warrant for conspiracy to buy a gun with the intent to provide that gun to a person who the accused knew or should have known was not legally able to buy or have a gun.
The warrant says Silver and a woman went to Dick's Sporting Goods in Danville and purchased a 9mm pistol.
Silver was unable to purchase the gun himself because of an "identification issue", according to the warrant, so he had the woman purchase the gun for him.
The warrant goes on to say that after purchasing the gun, Silver told the woman to report the gun stolen.
Whether the gun purchased was the gun used in the shooting or not was unclear Friday.
The relationship between Silver and the woman who purchased the gun was also unclear Friday.
Silver is being held in the Danville City Jail without bond.
As of Friday, police were not seeking anyone else in connection with Wright's death.
