Covington police: 68 suspects indicted on drug charges

COVINGTON, Va. – Covington Police teamed up with the Alleghany Highlands Drug and Gang Task force to indict 68 suspects on drug violations as part of Operation Dog Days of Summer.

The suspects were indicted on a total of 322 charges as a result of the year-long investigation. During the arrests, officers seized one half pound of marijuana, two grams of methamphetamine, and four guns.

Authorities are still looking for nine of the suspects. 

Fifty-six suspects were arrested.

Other agencies involved in this operation are: Alleghany Sheriff's Office, Craig County Sheriff's Office, Bath County Sheriff's Office, Clifton Forge police, U.S. Marshals Service and Virginia State Police.
