North Cross's freshman class spends the day serving the community

ROANOKE,Va. –   One local school is making it their mission to give back to the community by starting a school wide initiative stressing the importance of community service.

 Ninth graders from north cross school volunteered throughout the day to help serve those in need at the rescue mission today. Students prepared meals, served lunch and worked at the donation center.

"The lesson for community service anytime we are doing outside the school is that there is a community outside and  our goal is to teach them to lead and serve," said David Lake, director of admission at North Cross School.
