Five people displaced after Southwest Roanoke apartment fire

Three pets also displaced, no injuries reported

ROANOKE, Va.UPDATE

The American Red Cross is helping five people and three pets displaced after an apartment fire in southwest Roanoke Wednesday. 

The four apartments were inside of a two-story house, and crews say they found the fire in an apartment on the second floor. They were able to contain the fire in that unit. 

No injuries have been reported. Authorities are still investigating a cause.

ORIGINAL STORY

Crews are currently on the scene of a house fire in Southwest Roanoke, according to city officials. 

Authorities received the call at 5:11 p.m. from a neighbor for a fire in the 900 block of Ferdinand Avenue. 

Authorities did not know if anyone was inside the home or what the cause of the fire was. 

Officials say the fire is under control and that the incident is under investigation.
