Two bomb threats found at Charlotte County schools prompt evacuations

Threats found at Phenix Elementary School and Central Middle School

Authorities have found another bomb threat at a school in Charlotte County Monday afternoon

Officials say that a student prank bomb threat was found on a bathroom wall at Central Middle School.

As a result of the threat, students have been moved to the high school auditorium, where they will stay until the end of the day.

Officials say additional law enforcement officers will be at the middle school Monday afternoon to help with safety checks, as well as over the next few weeks until "this current behavioral trend settles."

After a sweep of the school, authorities found no indication of any explosive device at a Charlotte County elementary school Monday.

The school district posted this statement to Facebook late Monday afternoon:

"Phenix Elementary School has been thoroughly swept by law enforcement and no indications were found of an explosive device. Therefore, Phenix students have received lunch at CMS and are being transported back to Phenix Elementary School. Appreciation is expressed to our local law enforcement for their continued assistance in helping to assure safe schools for our students."

Students at a Charlotte County elementary school were evacuated Monday morning due to a bomb threat.

The threat was found on a bathroom wall at Phenix Elementary School, according to the school district's Facebook post.

While it's believed the threat is a prank, students have been relocated to Central Middle School as a precaution.

Having no students in the building will better allow law enforcement officers to check the school.
