Authorities identify man who was shot, killed after trying to rob Roanoke County home

Police say he was shot by the homeowner



Authorities have identified a man who was shot and killed after they say he tried to rob a Roanoke County home.  

An investigation revealed that Frankie Cordova, 27, of Roanoke was the man who was shot by a homeowner in the 6000 block of Carefree Lane after trying to rob the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The homeowner and robbery victim was able to fire his own weapon, killing the suspect. 

Authorities say no charges have been filed at this time. 

The case is still under investigation


Roanoke County police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday evening. 

Just before 9 p.m., officers responded to a call about a disturbance in the 6000 block of Carefree Lane, which is in the Hollins area of the county. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot.

Police say the incident is isolated and contained, so there is no threat to the public. 

Police have not yet arrested anyone. It's not clear how badly the man was hurt. 

Officers are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence at the scene. Details are limited right now, but we're expecting more information soon.
