Authorities identify man shot in southeast Roanoke Monday morning

ROANOKE, Va.UPDATE 

Authorities have identified the man shot in southeast Roanoke Monday morning. 

Police say Kevin Morris, 49, of Roanoke, was shot in the head around 6:30 a.m. after walking outside. Authorities sya he then went to a neighbor's house to call 911. 

Police say the incident is still under investigation.

Roanoke police are investigating a shooting early Monday morning. 

The call came in around 6:30 a.m. for a shooting in the area of Murray Avenue and 6th Street SE. Officers say a man walked outside and was shot in the head. He then went to a neighbor's house to call 911. 

Only one shot was fired, according to police. 

The victim was alert when police arrived and is expected to survive. He was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

Police do not yet have a suspect, but they do not believe there is any danger to the public at this time.
