ALTAVISTA, Va. – An Altavista man has turned himself in after questions were raised over his election campaign for a town council seat.Â
Timothy H. George turned himself in to Virginia State Police on Tuesday. He was arrested on two felony counts of perjury/false written statement.Â

State police started an investigation in June due to allegations about his election campaign for a seat on Altavista Town Council.Â
On Tuesday, a grand jury handed up the indictments.Â
George was released on his own recognizance.
10 News reached out to George who provided this response.
"... it's not been made clear to me what I'm being accused of other than "written perjury". I do know that it does not involve town business and I do not plan on resigning."
