Floyd regains water after line fixed

Water line broke sometime early Tuesday morning

FLOYD COUNTY, Va. – Water is back on in Floyd after a water line break and a boil water advisory has been issued.

The break happened either during the late night hours of Monday or early Tuesday morning in the 600 block of East Main Street.

The town’s public service authority chairman says the break was discovered when a car ran into the hole created when the water washed away part of the road.

Water was shut off in town for several hours while the water line was replaced.

“We’ve had several lines break here in the last few months, probably more so than we’ve had in quite a while. We are working on a replacement plan to try to get some of the lines replaced,” said Floyd councilman Bruce Turner.

The cause of the break remains unclear.

The boil notice that was issued after the repair was completed has since been lifted.
