By Carlos Mendoza - BERKELEY (KRON) — Protesters took to the streets in Oakland and Berkeley Tuesday night in a stance against the next president of the United States.

The protesters marched from the University of California Berkeley campus at the Sproul Plaza around 12:00 a.m. and have made their way down Telegraph Avenue.

The march began when Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump became the president-elect of the United States.

A woman suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a car on state Highway 24 in Oakland.

The driver pulled over on the right-hand shoulder, but protesters turned on her and vandalized her car, breaking the back window, CHP officers said. Arriving officers stabilized the group. The woman who was hit was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The 12th Street BART station was closed due to the protest.
