ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - With your help, Downtown Roanoke, Inc. is looking to make the downtown area even more beautiful this spring.

The organization is asking for donations to help with its hanging basket program.

The baskets are hung on lamp posts throughout downtown from May until September.

Planter boxes are also set up around the market square area.

"It creates a certain vibe and experience when people head down here and they see really pretty flowers and we also care for the farmers market. A lot of the plants come from there. It will increase the overall esthetics of downtown," said Jaime Clark with Downtown Roanoke, Inc.

People can donate any amount or the full $275 which covers the cost of plants, materials and maintenance for the season.

The organization is hoping to hang 300 baskets. They also have 30 planters as well and plan to grow that number this year.
